About the Institution

Besides being an estimable institution our Ganesar College of Arts & Science proves to be a rare boon to the poor and downtrodden people living at and around Melaisivapuri Village. The year 2009 marked the Centenary year. Her noble objectives determine the attitude of the valuable services which she has been rendering since 1909. The poor here sweat a lot to keep their body and soul together. It was impossible for them to think about giving good education to their children. To extend them a warm helping hand our college was established. Unmindful of monetary reward the patrons V.P.S Palaniappa Chettiar and V.P.S.Annamalai Chettiar founded the college. In fact, they created an oasis amidst of a drought-prone area where people struggle for survival.

Originally our college was founded in 1909. Few literary genres in Tamil Literature were taught to the poor students who were rich in their enthusiasm to learn those pieces of works. In Succession, our college began to prepare students for Pravesa Panditham and Bala Panditham which were the course titled Vidhuvan offered by Madurai Tamil Sangam. In 1938 our college was affiliated to Madras University. Since 1982 it has been under the affiliation of Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli.

Many of our students belong to SC communities (above 40%), coming from very poor families. Our college is a blessing to the SC students because they feel happy to study in an atmosphere of communal harmony.

The needy parents hesitate a lot to send their girls (daughters) to faraway towns or cities to get higher education. This limitation was found among the parents of poor women students who tried to close the Gateway of knowledge. As a selfless savior, our college came forward to help them. In fact, it is a rare honor for our college it was she who produced the First Graduates in families in which for many generations none receive at least the primary education or almost all remained illiterate. Now the poor and illiterate parents of our women students greet our college with heartfelt gratitude. If our college had not been founded here, 99% of the young women would have remained illiterate and lived in the Darkness of Ignorance. Fortunately, they have been blessed to receive a quality education at our college.

The most benefited section of society here is its weaker section – women. The quality education given, the well-regulated discipline maintenance, and the safe, calm, and pollution-free atmosphere prevalent here bring more women students from all the districts of Tamilnadu. Along with their parents, the students feel that is a blessing to study here.

Our Philosophy

To enable the young learners of this draught-prone area to receive higher education and to shape their personality and thereby make them good and successful citizens of our nation.

Our Principle

Success is assured by the right choice of an educational institution. The spirit of the institution has the power to influence the personality of the learner. A sound institution alone can give sound knowledge to the students. That is why very few institutions alone can stand the test of time.

Key Of Success

We can realize the praiseworthy standard of our College. Our students, who got educated and their personality developed here and who have been serving in every walk of life, have been bringing more laurels to our College
