ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

            The Department of Commerce was successfully established in the year 1993 – 94. Since this year onwards it has been rendering its devoted service for the promotion of Commerce and among the rural poor students from in and around our college. “Commerce, accountancy and management – studies making the students practice and principles of commerce.

Application of Accountancy making them so for commerce and management with aesthetic interest and thereby making them pick up the morals and other trustful information for their life and making them become suitable for high profession and decent life are the methods of the commerce department.

Commerce has been instrumental in shaping the modern world. Starting with the exchange of surplus commodities, Economics and Commerce have progressed to become the primary driving force behind innovations in Arts as well as Physical Sciences and Life Sciences, especially Transport & Navigation, Astronomy, Mathematics and Statistics.

 Dynamic Consumer Demands led by the changing demographics and Globalization & Digitalization of economies have boosted innovation and led to creation of more businesses in the organized sector. Therefore, a commerce graduate of today’s information era, needs knowledge of International relations, Law, Computers, Statistics apart from the knowledge of functional areas of Business.

 Vision & Mission of the Department.

The Department is characterized by its dedicated teachers, updated & industry – oriented syllabi, diligent students, vibrant research atmosphere and a strong alumni network. Syllabi is updated regularly, taking insights from the recent developments in industry, and including experimental, experiential learning, personality development, to make students industry ready.

To ensure holistic development of the students, syllabi are designed to inculcate morals, values, ethics to mould students as responsible citizens and guardians of a sustainable environment

Infrastructure

           The College, in its objective of creating a green environment has provided well-ventilated, spacious ICT enabled classrooms, surrounded by trees. To impart practical knowledge, the department has a Commerce Lab and a shared Commerce Computer Lab with computer systems, LCD Projector and Tally (ERP 9) Accounting Software

Placement Opportunities

Opportunities are rife for students after their Commerce Degree Programmes. Most of the students with leadership abilities become entrepreneurs and businessmen. Prominent employment opportunities include Manager / Executive, Academician (College or School Teacher), Researcher, Accountant, Financial Analyst, Business Consultant, Taxation Practitioner, Event Manager, Clerk, Business Procurement Officer, Salesman, Credit Management Officer, Loan Advisors, Soft Skills Trainer, Corporate Trainer, Social Worker. Students desirous of higher studies can opt for CA, CMA, CS, CFA, M.Com. B.Ed., Ph.D., MBA, LLB programmes or appear for Competitive / Qualification Examinations like UPSC, SSC, RRB, IBPS, TNPSC, NET, SET, CTET etc.
